Affiliation
St. Andrew’s is a congregation of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) and a Campus Ministry of the LuMin Network. We are a Registered Student Organization affiliated with the University of Illinois, and Pr. Jon is part of the Religious Workers Association on campus. We are a Reconciling in Christ congregation who sees, names, celebrates, and advocates for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. We seek to be a church that is truly welcoming and affirming of all people.
Meet Our Leaders
Jon Fry, Campus Pastor (He/Him)
In 2023 Pastor Jon was called by the Central/Southern Illinois Synod Council to serve the students at the University of Illinois at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Campus Center. Prior to seminary, he served as the lay campus minister at his alma mater, the University of Northern Iowa, and has a passion for lifting up young adults in faith and leadership. Pr. Jon worked at Lutheran Lakeside Camp in Okoboji, Iowa, for 7 summers, and in youth ministry at St. John Lutheran Church Cedar Falls, IA for 8 years during and after his undergrad program. He holds degrees in accounting and management information systems, which are surprisingly helpful in ministry settings! Pr. Jon lives in Urbana with his wife, Megan, and they enjoy reading, learning about Illini sports teams, and playing board games.

Morgan Bertram, Office Administrator (She/Her)
I’m a music educator and a proud Indiana State University graduate with a degree in Music Education. I teach private voice and piano lessons and also work as the office administrator, so you’ll usually find me wearing a few different hats! I’ve taught preschool in the past and enjoy photography as a creative outlet. I grew up in Northern Indiana and moved here during my junior year of college after meeting my husband, Lucas. We were married in October 2023 and now share our home with three dogs and two cats.

St. Andrew’s Council
St. Andrew’s Council is a group of members elected by the community to organize events, plan worship, and dream about the future. Council members are mostly UIUC students, and all are members or associate members of St. Andrew’s.

St. Andrew’s Board of Trustees
The Board is composed of members of other local ELCA congregations. The Board collaborates with the Pastor and Council to oversee the financial resources of the ministry and guide long term mission and vision work.
